Steps

  1. Find out which spark plugs your engine requires.
  2. Access to your spark plugs may require removal of engine covers, removal of underbody trays or accessing the engine bay from below by using jacks.
  3. Remove ONE AT A TIME the ignition leads.
  4. Once the first lead is removed, use your spark plug socket to unscrew the first spark plug. Once it is removed, use your plug installation tool to correctly seat the new plug into the hole.

  5. Ensure that the threads are lined up and use your spark plug socket to screw the plug in.
  6. Tighten the plug to the manufacturer's recommended torque. If you do not know the manufacturer's recommendation, tighten roughly 1/2 turn past "tight".
  7. Replace the ignition lead.
  8. Repeat the process for the remaining spark plugs remembering to complete one at a time to ensure that the ignition leads are replaced correctly.
