Steps

  1. Unbolt the front and rear wiper arms, you may need to pull up the wiper arm first, and lift up a protective flap. Unbolt using a 10mm, 13mm or whatever is required for your make and model.
  2. Spray some INOX onto the thread and wiper arms to loosen them up prior to removal.
  3. Carefully remove the wiper arms remembering that the spring mechanism can be strong and can damage the glass if it slams down.
  4. Remove the rubber blade and separate the wiper arms.
  5. Prepare the wiper arms for painting by removing the previous fading paint using course grit sandpaper, before then sanding to a near smooth finish with fine grain sandpaper. Try to remove any flaking or fading original paint.
  6. Lay down some newspaper and start spraying with primer ensuring to cover all of the wipers with a consistent coat. Use short numerous sprays from approximately 20cm away. Do not overuse the spray paint, apply the paint in multiple light coats.
  7. Allow drying time.
  8. Start spraying with your satin black or similar colour, again, spray in multiple light coats.
  9. Allow to dry and apply a second coat if required.
  10. Again, allow to dry.
  11. Reinstall the wiper arms and ensure they are correctly aligned.
  12. Test their operation before heading inside.
